Artist's Statement

My art is directly tied to the emotive responses of what I am drawn to in the world - the play of light, color, a sense of space and place. Pastels are my medium of choice and focus because of their brilliant pure pigment that allows me to directly mark my expressions and interpretations and manipulate them to convey mood and atmosphere and the myriad rhythms of nature, light and the seasons.  What  is captured both through the eye and heart - the painting - I bestow to the viewer. Nature is a wondrous and bountiful source which connects us all.
